The husband’s ‘response’ led to Nash dying at Lincoln Hospital from ‘severe trauma to his head and body’ about three hours later, according to police.
The New York City husband arrested after police said he killed his wife’s would-be rapist has had his charges reduced.
According to local news outlet DNAinfo the woman said: “I took my phone and see my husband’s number first”.
Diallo’s lawyer, Anthony Michaels, says his client and his wife are the victims in this case.
Mamadou was arrested and has been charged with manslaughter for Nash’s death.
“I am not thinking (the police) are going to take me because someone came into my house, take my wife’s clothes off to rape my wife”, Diallo said, before finally leaving. The woman’s sister was also in the apartment and was in shock by the suddenness of the attack.
A man forced his was into an apartment and tried to rape a woman, police say.
Diallo was released without bail during his arraignment late Tuesday evening.
Nenegallo Diallo recounted to DNAinfo that Nash told her, “I don’t want anything”.
Questions about the location where Diallo killed Nash and the time between the alleged rape and the fatal beating are coming into play.
His criminal record includes 19 prior arrests including robbery, assault and arson, according to a law enforcement source.
Diallo, who originally faced a manslaughter charge, exited the Bronx criminal courthouse to cheers and a crowd of waiting supporters.
That’s when Diallo confronted Nash, and the bloody hallway scene unfolded.
