Kerry, 35 – who moved from Oxfordshire to Crowborough, East Sussex, in August – tweeted last week: “Really have got to say, I’ve really met the most lovely people in my new home town!!”
Announcing the split, a spokesperson for Kerry said: “It is with deep sadness ‘Kerry announces the end of her marriage to George Kay”.
Ex-rugby league player George Kay has been charged with assault by beating and possession of a prohibited weapon described aa a torch disguised as a taser.
A source reveals: “Kerry has really thrown herself into her new community, making friends with other parents at the children’s schools”.
Katona was previously married to Westlife star Brian McFadden and taxi driver Mark Croft. Kay had reportedly lashed out at her after a drinking session that weekend.
“Let’s hope she can have a smoother run for the rest of her life”.
George proposed to Kerry in front of her kids in Blackpool in 2013 but later said he’d always fancied her. “I’ve always loved her, I think, from very early on”, he said.
