Today was supposed to be the symbolic start of the college football season for the Nebraska football team and its fans. Foltz graduated from Nebraska with a degree in agronomy in May.
Foltz grew up on a farm near Greeley but played youth sports and went to school an hour’s drive away in Grand Island. Fellow student-athletes, coaches and fans across the country and especially in the Big Ten responded to the news with an outpouring of support, and that support continued today as almost every head coach began their opening statements at the event by expressing their deepest sympathies with everyone affected.
“We just continued to build those friendships and spend time together, hanging out and relaxing”, Meyer said.
