Hy-Vee issues bean recall

The recall stems from a Fairbault, Minn. facility where a worker found part of an ink pen in a can of black beans.

The recall is limited to the production code of 15-ounce product manufactured at the facility located in Faribault, with the code “Best By 04 April 2019 258F2 095 16 XXXX” on the bottom of the can.

Hy-Vee is recalling some cans of beans because they could contain pieces of plastic or metal.

Hy-Vee, Inc.is voluntarily recalling Hy-Vee brand No-Salt-Added Black Beans across its eight-state region due the potential presence of plastic and/or metal pieces within the product.

The release said the foreign objects have a potential to cause a choking hazard and adverse health consequences.

The products were manufactured at Faribault Foods, Inc.in Minnesota. Faribault Foods, Inc. has determined this to be an isolated incident.

To date, no injuries have been reported in connection with the recall.
