But now there’s an all new Hyundai i30 for 2017, and this time Hyundai look to be aiming to dominate in its sector, rather than just joining it, with a new design that delivers a more grown-up i30.

“The new i30 comes with the highest basic features in the company’s history, including a high performance-high efficiency powertrain, that offer a secure, comfortable ride and the best auto handling experience”, Kwak Jin, a vice president of Hyundai, told reporters at a press event held earlier in the day. It is flanked by swept back LED headlights. Shoulder line that start from the head lamps reaches till the tail lamps and it adds muscle to the side profile of the hatchback.

Safety credentials have also been upgraded with available safety equipment including autonomous emergency braking, Adaptive cruise control, driver fatigue monitoring, lane keeping assist, and blind spot detection.

The new i30 comes with the brand’s equally new turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder making 138 horsepower (103 kilowatts) and 179 pound-feet (242 Newton-meters) of torque. The 1.6-litre diesel mill is available in three states of tune- 94hp, 109 hp and 134hp.

Australian buyers will be introduced to the new i30 range in the first half of 2017, with local models expected to vary slightly in their final specification compared to Europe.

No one could argue that Hyundai has failed to join the mainstream of auto makers in recent years, and perhaps the moment that happened was when the current i30 arrived. Engines are coupled with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Signalling its intent to conquer the European market, the 2017 Hyundai i30 has been officially revealed ahead of its Paris Motor Show debut next month. The market further gained momentum after Hyundai launched the first generation i30 two years later.
