Hyundai’s new RN30 hot hatch is race-inspired

Hyundai’s press material says the RN30 was “born as a racing machine”, and is a result of collaboration between Hyundai Motorsport (HMSG), Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre (HMETC) and Hyundai Motor’s Performance Development & High Performance Vehicle Division.

The N Concept RN30 is a motorsport-inspired racing concept by Hyundai Motors and is developed based on the Hyundai i30.

Hyundai has issued a first sneak peek at how an i30 hot hatch might look with this shadowy image issued by the brand’s high-performance N division. Slated to debut on September 29, 2016, the Hyundai RN30 has something racy about it, and I’m not pointing to the huge rear wing.

After all, the Hyundai N Concept RN30 is just an appetizer of what’s to come from the i30 N. Unfortunately no, the exterior styling of the road-going model will be more conservative than what the RN30 has to offer.

This performance-oriented model will be the first vehicle spawned from the recently established Hyundai N performance division.

Apart from Hyundai N Concept RN30, several other models will also be placed.

It was developed in partnership with Hyundai’s World Rally Championship team and features a lower, wider stance said to enhance stability during high-speed driving and cornering.

The teaser image also could hint at the as-yet unseen three-door version of the new third-generation i30, given there’s no sign of a rear door shutline in the pic.
