The Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid’s electric motor is powered by a 1.56 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery placed under the rear seats. Our vision for future mobility focuses on choice, with a variety of powertrain options to suit customers’ varied lifestyles, without compromising on design or driving enjoyment.
Having had much publicity over the last few months or so, the Hyundai Ioniq is now making an official debut in Geneva.
The IONIQ Hybrid and IONIQ Plug-in both feature the new Kappa 1.6 GDI, direct injection petrol, four-cylinder engine with a thermal efficiency of 40 percent, delivering 105 PS and 147 Nm of torque. The engine has been tailored to hybrid use and is combined with a six-speed double clutch transmission. This produces 104 horsepower and 108 lb-ft of torque and has been tuned, predictably, for maximum economy.
With this setup, Hyundai’s fastest-selling European model returns 48 miles per gallon (4.9 liters per 100 kilometers) on average with corresponding Carbon dioxide emissions of 129 grams per kilometer. The model here runs on pure electricity supplied by a large 28 kWh lithium-ion-polymer battery and has a travel range of over 250 km.

Inside the environmentally-conscious sedans, the cabin features state-of-the-art connectivity features including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Tom Tom Live Services. The driving experience becomes digital through the 7-inch TFT instrument cluster displaying all key driver information. Just like any other Ioniq family member the Electric also has a Cd value of 0.24 and can pack numerous safety and assistance systems, such as autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. Hyundai’s press conference will be on March 1 at 10:30 CET at the Hyundai stand.
