At Blue Mountain Farms, about 60 miles east of Los Angeles in the town of Phelan, ranchers had to face the reality that a wildfire was burning in their area for the second time in two years.

UPDATED: LOWER LAKE, Calif. (WKOW) – Damin Anthony Pashilk of Clearlake, California was arrested Monday on 17 counts of arson and is in jail. The actual cause of the fires remains under investigation by local authorities. Fire crews said the blaze tore through like a tornado, and they could do little to stop its destructive path. Officials have been telling residents to prepare for the worst.
Transportation officials said a northbound stretch of Interstate 15 that was closed earlier in the week would reopen by the end of the Thursday.

An estimated 82,640 people have been forced to leave their homes. As with a lot of major fires, some residents are apparently defying orders and staying behind, trying to save their homes.
