In a number of tweets, Shah hit out at the Congress, saying that it should be ashamed of itself as everything about the party was “fake – their tears for the poor, their claims of development, their commitment to social justice”. He continued his tirade against the Congress in Vijayapura, Koppal, and Bengaluru rallies.

“It is the Congress party that did not allow the law on Triple Talaq to be passed”. Although Congressmen would typically jostle to credit him with victory even in by-polls, his inability to win in Gujarat has been a huge setback to Gandhi’s candidature getting acceptance from allies.

From the several conversations, it appears that Siddaramaiah seems to have found support from the city’s youth and elite for taking Modi head on, his stance on the Cauvery issue and the fact that he has been able to galvanise and gather support for issues affecting the residents of Karnataka; with some also calling referring to him as a “rock star”.

“The BJP has viewed Karnataka as a “gateway to the south” and the Karnataka prize could help the party acquire a pan-India profile”, she said.

The Prime Minister said the Congress thinks that when they win an election, they have got a contract to carry out their corrupt practices.

He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be the Prime Minister again.

Wooing Dalits and deprived sections of voters for the May 12 assembly polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday charged Congress with betraying and cheating the Dalits by not making senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge the Chief Minister in 2008 despite making a promise to that effect.

It was less than a year ago – at UC Berkeley in September – Gandhi declared that he was “absolutely ready” to be the prime ministerial candidate for the general elections.

Modi told the crowd that it was now Karnataka’s turn to bid “goodbye” to the Congress.

Modi said with defeat staring the Congress in the face, it is already busy trying to find excuses.

“When (former Prime Minister) Manmohan Singh had his government in the Centre, the remote control was at the 10, Janpath (official residence of former Congress President Sonia Gandhi)”, he said.

Maintaining that the Congress only wants to cling to power, Modi said, “Congress leaders don’t know this is the land of Basaveshwara that will never get divided on the basis of caste. Here one can not create rift between brothers”.
