“I have no idea”, Miles said of job future at LSU

The Tigers (7-3, 4-3 SEC) host Texas A&M (8-3, 4-3) in their regular-season finale on Saturday, amid reports that Miles could fired afterward regardless of the outcome.

Miles is 110-32 with a pair of SEC titles in 11 seasons at LSU, but the school’s big-money boosters have grown dissatisfied with the program’s direction late this season.

Despite Miles’ grip on the head coaching job tenuous, this may have more to do with the interest the Gators have in Franks more than anything else. And looking at past rankings, only once in the last five years has Miles not gathered a top-10 class. The point is that he’s a terrific recruiter. “I just think that if they decide, whoever makes the decision, just be careful what you’re asking for”. And no, I don’t hate Meyer or Ohio State and I am not a MI fan, so let’s get all that out of the way. Now look, I think everything is a process. I’m going to attack this opponent. “That’s all I’m doing”. “But I appreciate your question”.

This farce will carry through whatever happens on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium, and whatever decision that is coming on the future of LSU’s head coach will be made afterwards. “Honestly, that’s not me”. “I like to pick those unranked guys out and fight “em”.

“It’s hard for me to go talk about what I’ve done and all of those things”, he said. “I don’t know if it’ll be here at TJ Ribs or if it’ll be wherever the bowl game is, but it has been a thrill for me to be here and watch what you’ve done for LSU, and I look forward to at least one more”. That’s preparation without distraction. “And that’s how I’ve always done it. I’m sure, there’s a bunch of perimeter, but I do not, and I am not involved in it”. But he said discussing those achievements with the people who will determine his future would not be in his nature.

It didn’t seem all that plausible that he’d walk away from $15 million, and that’s not something you negotiate your way past in half a day (and multiple sources had told me that Les and LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva did not meet on Sunday).

“Everything I do is calculated”, he said. This is our senior night, and it’s a great opportunity for our guys to play well and get victory.

Back then, we called Bobby a chicken, but now we realize he was just being a wise old bird.

On Wednesday, Miles said he liked the “attitude and energy” of the team in the past two practices and said they’re “focused and prepared”.

“There absolutely is (extra motivation to win)”, Miles said, according to The Advocate’s Scott Rabalais.
