I have to respect Vardy’s Leicester decision – Arsenal boss Wenger

Let’s start off with a little background.

After a nightmare start in their first matches of the season, both Arsenal AND Leicester City will be hoping to silence their critics when they face off at the King Power Stadium on match day two. Leicester lost both games to their opponents last season and hardly come into this game brimming with confidence after their slip up at Hull.

With last week’s opening weekend now in the history books, there is very little time to relax as another set of Premier League fixtures just around the corner.

However, Leicester fans will be have a few silver linings to bring to this game. ‘It’s been a pleasure to be here so I’m going to keep going.

The Foxes have no new injury concerns and Robert Huth could return in defence after serving a one-game suspension. His presence in back of the Leicester formation can be very helpful to tighten their defenses.

It was only natural that a cadre of the largely unheralded players who spearheaded Leicester’s outrageous title winning tilt last term would attract the attention of the more established elite. Arsenal were in pursuit of the England worldwide and were nearly certain to get his signature before the Euros in the summer.

“He signed for four years, me too because I want to build”.

“We spoke together last season and in pre-season and he told me he wanted to stay”. However, in the end, last season’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year penned a new four-year deal.

Arsenal have not made any new signings so far in this summer window other than the little known 21-year-old Japanese striker, Takuma Asano.

He said: “We are now in the Champions League and we need something more to play against the big teams”.

Wenger preferred not to discuss whether Mahrez was indeed an Arsenal target, but was more forthcoming about the Algeria international’s obvious talent. Bacary Sagna, Anthony Martial, N’Golo Kante, Dimitri Payet, James Collins, Cedric Soares, Emre Can, Anthony Martial, Hugo Lloris, Sam Vokes, Andy King and Wayne Hennessey all played in the semi-finals and/or final of Euro 2016, and all represented their respective Premier League clubs last weekend.

“If you consider the number of goals and assists he had, he had the best combination in the league”. Arsenal also lost their first game and would be itching to get their first win.

Arsenal have not lost two consecutive opening league games since the inaugural season of the EPL (1992/93).

That won’t be the case when Leicester host Arsenal tomorrow.
