I’ll be back for my 20th Wimbledon, says Venus
If she can cause another upset against six-time champion Serena, Kerber would become the first German woman to win Wimbledon since Steffi Graf in 1996.

Vesnina did a lot of mistakes in a day when Serena Williams was determined to play her best.
“We are giving everything on court, everybody”, the Australian Open champion said.
After sweeping to the final without dropping a set, Kerber is guaranteed to reach a career-high second in the rankings next week. From the world of fashion to music and civil rights, the younger of the Williams sisters has never been afraid to speak her mind. Williams ended the match in style with a forehand volley victor.

Kerber wins the first two games of the second set for an early 2-0 lead. Despite committing 3 double faults to 0 for Venus Williams, Angelique Kerber was able to remain ahead of the experienced American.
Vesnina was equally adamant that she and her fellow women players deserve equal rewards. I will just try to go out there like I did in Australia and try to show her: “‘OK, I’m here to win the match as well.’ I know that I have to play my best tennis to beat her in the final here”. Williams has won Wimbledon six times.
“I knew she was playing very well at the moment so I was ready, trying to move well and go for it and everything worked”.
“It’s weird, I can’t believe I’m in the finals again”, she said.
Williams suffered a stunning loss against Kerber in the Australian Open final in January and the rivals will face off for the first time since then when they slug it out for the Wimbledon title.
After a awful start in the first set, the Russian had to start with a hold but Williams’ brilliance didn’t allow her to do such as she went on to get broken. Vesnina finally puts herself on the board after winning a tightly fought fifth game.
Vesnina held serve twice in the opening set, prompting sympathetic applause, but the world number 50 was swept aside in the second set, winning only five points, as Serena marched to singles victory number 85 at the All England Club. But the set was over in 28 minutes courtesy of Williams’s seventh ace. Serena Williams fired 7 aces in the opener. She didn’t double fault. Just credit to her for playing well. The question at that point was which woman would break the pattern.
Despite the painfully one-sided semi-final Williams, into her third Grand Slam final of the year, insisted it had been a tough workout.
“Right now I feel like it’s pretty good”.
“You see Serena, you just think about as the opponent, you know, what you have to do, what you were talking with your coach before the match, how I have to play, my strategy”.
“I felt like I had no chance today”, the Russian said.

“Let’s be real, I’m guessing it’s a combination of fatigue and her freezing”.
