I’ll Prove Them Wrong Again – Harry Kane Determined To Answer Critics

Harry Kane has insisted he will silence his critics for the second time in 12 months after vowing to emerge from his England form slump.

Asked if the lack of confidence in the final third was a hangover from the Euros, Kane said: “It could be”.

“We were very patient, we limited them to very few chances, we created some good chances but maybe the final ball again, whether it was a cross or a through ball, could have been a little bit better”. I know if I keep doing what I am doing I will score goals and that is what I am going to do’.

“It has [become a talking point] now, on social media”.

“With a new manager coming in you want to get him a good victory to start off with, he has been great all week”. Of course, it was a disappointing moment in the summer but it’s football.

Even though that was up on a year ago, Kane still wasn’t satisfied, telling Copa90: ‘I think shooting’s got to be in the 90s.

Tottenham and England striker Kane has not scored for club or country since his early goal against Turkey on May 22 during preparations for Euro 2016.

“There was a lot of talk past year about me not scoring and I ended up proving a lot of people wrong”, he said to The Guardian. “People will talk this year as well, but it’s part of football”. It’s what they’re doing now.

“I am a confident player”.

Old boss Roy Hodgson said after the game: “I don’t need to apologise for Kane taking a corner”.

“Obviously I had a shorter pre-season, but I am confident, I am always confident”.

Kane operated as a lone striker right up until the point he was replaced by substitute Daniel Sturridge as England went in search of a victor which would eventually come in the dying seconds as Lallana struck his first worldwide goal. So that may be a bit of sub-conscious about not wanting to be the one that gives the ball away.

Following England’s failure at Euro 2016, Allardyce believes his squad are “a happy bunch, not a damaged bunch” following the win over Slovakia.

“I think it was possession for possession’s sake for the opening 45 minutes rather than trying to break the opposition down”.
