I’m incredibly disappointed to leave Liverpool: Rodgers
Brendan Rodgers said on Monday that he was “incredibly disappointed” to have been sacked as manager of Liverpool, but paid warm tributes to the club’s players, staff and fans.

Klopp is now 1/3 odds-on favourite with Bet365.com to be named as the next Liverpool manager.
But however, on Sunday, Liverpool’s American owners, Fenway Sports Group, picked the day of the Merseyside derby against savage opponent Everton to report that Rodgers’ three-year stretch at Anfield was over.
The BBC Sport’s Ben Smith says Carlo Ancelotti is in London, where the Reds presently have an office, but reiterates the Premier League side are upbeat on opening contract talks with Klopp.
Sacked Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has spoken of his disappointment at being dismissed but has wished his successor well for the future.
As for Ancelotti he has proven success in England after leading Chelsea to the double in 2011, and has a Champions League title to his name having won it with Real Madrid in 2014.
Who would you like to see take over at Liverpool?
Liverpool’s current Germany global Emre Can told Die Welt that Klopp has what it takes to bring the glory days back to Anfield. “I don’t think he deserved that at all”, said Monk, who played under Rodgers at the south Wales club. “It has been both an honour and a privilege to manage one of the game’s great clubs for the last three years”, he began.
That is another reason Carragher felt the change should have been made in the summer when it was clear things were going in the wrong direction for Liverpool under Rodgers. “I think he has demonstrated in Dortmund that he can work at any team in the world”.
Further support for Rodgers came from his former club Swansea, where manager Garry Monk was stunned by Liverpool’s decision. “Simply because I know a little of the language and I need the language for my work”. Goals are now in shorter supply but there has been no tightening up in defence and in their last six matches they have conceded after taking the lead, with five of those resulting in draws.

Graeme Souness, who captained and managed Liverpool, said the club had fallen behind their supposed rivals, notably in the transfer market.
