‘I’m not sure’ AG Kathleen Kane has authority to appoint special prosecutors
Kane’s law license is now suspended as she awaits trial on charges she leaked secret grand jury material. Likewise, she said, “No woman should go to work and be subjected to consistent treatment of disgusting indignity by women-haters…”

Gansler and his legal team will be reviewing the exchange of pornographic and offensive emails between various state officials during the Jerry Sandusky case, which Kane says could have demonstrated bias in the state’s criminal justice system.
Now, state taxpayers will pick up the bill for a team of special prosecutors hired to sort out the sordid details of PornGate. We are going to start with the servers that are at the Office of the Attorney General.
Kane has sporadically released the emails during her rocky tenure, often during times when she’s facing bad publicity.
“We’ve reached a point in Pennsylvania where some government leaders have lost their sense of dignity, of duty and of civility”, Kathleen Kane said.
The special prosecutor said his team’s investigation will be paid for by the state attorney general’s office.
Known as “PornGate”, a former Maryland Attorney General is now tasked with determining if any laws were broken.
“The discovery of these emails gives us, the people, a unique opportunity to see the problem, hidden away for many years, address the problem and progress as a commonwealth”, Ms. Kane said during a news conference at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
The Attorney General’s Office will also sign a contract with Gansler’s Washington, D.C.-based law firm, BuckleySandler, for support services for the investigation. He said the total cost will likely be less than $2 million. Kane announced a new effort to investigate pornography and other lewd emails exchanged among prosecutors, judges and others inside government. Her law license was suspended in September, still she has refused to resign her workplace.
Former state police Commissioner Frank Noonan is one of several men who has sued Kane in federal court for defamation.

A Pennsylvania Senate panel voted last month to recommend her removal from office, which would require approval by at least 34 of the full chamber’s 50 members. Her fellow Democrat, Douglas F. Gansler, will have broad authority, including the power to issue subpoenas and convene grand juries.
