‘I Reject That Thinking’ — Obama Doesn’t Care If His Gun Actions Would

US President Barack Obama shed tears yesterday while outlining measures to tackle gun violence in the country.

“States with weak gun laws and no (universal) background check requirement are a major source of crime guns here in California”, said Ari Freilich, an attorney at the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence in San Francisco.

Gun buyers and sellers will also have to undergo a background check.

“Sometimes the fact the gun is available and easy to grab a hold of and shoot somebody with contributes to it, but for the most part people who set out to commit a crime with a gun gave some thought to it anyway”, Forsyth said.

“Those two people meet and exchange funds”, said R. Kent Morrison, a local firearms training instructor.

Kicking off his past year in the White House with a defiant show of executive power, Obama will ignore Congressional opposition and take a series of unilateral steps to regulate gun sales and curb illicit purchases.

The group, which says it is “the only no-compromise gun lobby in Washington” after a Ron Paul quote, bills itself as being more uncompromising than the National Rifle Association.

Marbut said he doesn’t expect anything substantive to come out of President Obama’s statements from the White House on Tuesday.

“Every time I think about those kids, it gets me mad”, the president said, wiping away tears.

Maryland law requires that for “secondary” sales – someone without a gun dealing license selling to another – the individuals must go to a law enforcement agency to fill out paperwork and have background checks completed, said state police spokesman Greg Shipley. One in three Americans knows someone who has been shot.

Brown declined to comment on Obama’s action Tuesday. “There needs to be another solution rather than restricting law-abiding gun owners”.

Many of these are presumably gifts, for which there’s no background check, obviously. Obama’s actions, she added, “will prevent criminals and others prohibited from possessing guns from bypassing background checks”.

Obama’s other gun proposals also include doubling the Federal Bureau of Investigation staff that conducts background checks, and investing more money in updating the 1990s-era computer system so that it can do checks around the clock. “I oppose any effort that infringes on these constitutional rights and will work with my colleagues to ensure our Constitution is respected”. “We’re going do more to help those suffering from mental illness get the help that they need”, said President Obama.

Womack added that he believes there is merit to addressing mental health issues and discussing ways to make the country safer, but asserts “the proposals … from this president do not get to the root of the problem”.
