I Sold Star Wars to ‘White Slavers — George Lucas
In his interview with Rose, which was published online December 25, Lucas remarked that he sold the blockbuster franchise “to the white slavers that take these things”. It’s not clear what he meant, and Rose didn’t ask a follow-up question on his PBS show that aired December 24.

Although George may disapprove of certain elements involving the creative approach to the new Star Wars sequel, it seems fans around the world are elated with the project – the movie has made $1.2 billion (£809 million) since its release.
“Star Wars” creator George Lucas apologized Thursday for referring to Disney as “white slavers”, calling the phrase “a very inappropriate analogy”.
Lucas has now issued a statement, clarifying his stance on the Disney deal, while also walking back the “slavers” bit.
In the statement, Lucas says Disney is moving the franchise in exciting directions.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens, directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan & Abrams, features a cast including actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Academy Award victor Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow. The interview was conducted prior to the December 14 premiere of the film, where Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger thanked Lucas, who was in attendance, for his “sheer genius” in creating “Star Wars”.
George Lucas has shared his candid evaluation of The Force Awakens. After less than two weeks in theaters, it has already become the eighth highest grossing film of all time globally. “Disney is doing an incredible job of taking care of and expanding the franchise”.
