The silver was Great Britain’s 16th medal at Rio.

Fiji’s players form a human ring after winning the men’s rugby sevens gold medal match against Britain at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016.

“I think World Rugby has done an incredible job growing the game”, he said.

But after beating one of the favourites South Africa to reach the last two, they were outclassed by Fiji who coasted to a comfortable 43-7 victory.

“It is going to be hard to qualify for 2020, let alone get a medal”.

“The entire nation, young, old, men, women, children and adults and people from across the political divide will come together in celebration”.

“You come to events that are far bigger than anything we normally stage and to be a part of it has been fantastic”, Beaumont said, adding that it was taking the game to new markets. We made it our point that we were going to enjoy this because that’s the best way we play.

“We’ve been seeing it in the Olympic Village but we weren’t allowed to go”.

“It is important everyone has a bit of time off now and switches off, and then we start again on the World Series when I get back into the office on Monday with my England hat back on”.

The team had won hearts on their way to the final against Great Britain, so much so that even their rivals were half-hoping they would win.

Ryan was left disillusioned with the game after he was sacked as England sevens coach after seven years in charge and was grateful to receive a quick offer from Fiji to take over its program where he said he rediscovered his fire.

A seventh try in the final minute of the match demonstrated Fiji’s dominance and added the final touch to a champions’ performance. The guys I had head to heads with are no longer at the RFU.

The English Rugby Union fired Ryan after seven years in charge of its sevens side and straight after leading it to the 2013 Sevens World Cup final in Moscow. We got battered by New Zealand.

A bank in Suva pinned a note to its front door saying: “Fiji is about to create history”.

“The last few years have been fantastic, and I will always be thankful for Fiji giving me this opportunity to find my fire back again, I guess”. There is no politics around the players or management. We set simple standards.
