I’ve put France on world map, says Ibrahimovic

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, never one to hide his light under a bushel, has said that should he end his global playing career he will rest easy knowing he has put both Sweden and France on the map.

There are suggestions that if his side fail to qualify for next summer’s tournament, he might retire from worldwide football, and there are rumours that Sweden’s 10-time player of the year could move away from Paris next summer.

‘I would love to play in the European Championships in France, ‘ he said in a press conference.

Ibrahimovic has scored nine goals in 11 Ligue 1 matches so far this season. If I’m old and weak and doing what I do, I’m more than happy to continue like this’. I’m very happy for that’.

“If it’s over (for me) after the play-offs?”

” At Paris Saint-Germain we once lost to Evian in the cup and I was so angry I kicked a box and it hit Ibrahimovic on the head.”

Ibrahimovic has also become Sweden’s all-time record goalscorer in that time and he is hoping to fire his home country to Euro 2016 – which will be hosted by France – in their qualifier with Denmark.

They will then play the return leg in Denmark on Tuesday, with a place at the tournament in France hanging by a thread.

The 34-year-old striker, who previously played for Juventus, Inter and AC Milan and Barcelona, made the claim after being asked if he wasn’t slowing down with age.
