The MQM chief has decided to go on a hunger strike against what he calls “illegal” detention of his party activists by security forces.

Announcing his decision, MQM chief said, “I will rather die than bow my head in front of tyrants”.

Hussain further stated that he does not have any other option left except of going on a hunger strike in order to lodge protest at what he sees as victimisation of his political party.

The announcement comes days after a Rangers’ raid on MQM headquarters Nine-Zero in Karachi, in which four party leaders including Qamar Mansoor and Rabita committee in-charge Kaiful Wara were detained and taken to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

In a press statement issued here, the MQM’s coordination committee said that the party is being targeted by accusing it of delivering hate speeches. “They should themselves decide if Qamar Mansoor can be a terrorist or not”, he questioned.

Meanwhile, the Rangers on Monday arrested Pasban General Secretary Usman Moazam along with his son during a raid at his home in Federal B area of Karachi.

Rangers officials said a case has been ledged against the MQM Rabita Committee member under anti-terrorism laws.
