‘I Will Never Let You Down,’ Trump Tells National Rifle Association

Trump’s remarks came at the National Rifle Association convention in Louisville, Ky. And now it supports Trump himself, officially endorsing him for president on Friday at an NRA event in Kentucky.

“The Second Amendment is under a threat like never before”.

“We’re getting rid of gun-free zones, OK”, said Trump, arguing that the victims were killed because they were barred from carrying weapons and therefore could not defend themselves.

By contrast, Trump once questioned the Republicans’ lockstep support for the NRA’s positions.

The latest statement marked a departure from his early remarks.

During a speech at the National Rifle Association convention in Louisville on Friday, Donald Trump called Hillary Clinton the most “anti-gun” candidate to ever run for president. The Republican nominee went on to say that both Bill and Hillary Clinton are hypocrites for using armed security guards.

“We have to unite, and we have to unite right now”, said NRA executive director Chris Cox, speaking at the organization’s annual leadership forum.

Trump often mentions in his speeches that he has a concealed weapon carry permit, and has called for policies that make it easier for law-abiding citizens to carry guns. LaPierre is spot on when he points to the Supreme Court as the biggest danger to Second Amendment rights, and the danger of having Hillary appoint the next three or four justices. Bernie Sanders, whom Clinton has targeted for voting against background checks and other gun-control measures, is nevertheless strongly opposed by the NRA. “As I said she wants to abolish the Second Amendment and take your guns away”, said Trump.

According to the joint New York Times and CBS poll released on Friday, almost two-thirds – 64% – of registered voters answered “no” when asked if Trump and Clinton are “honest and trustworthy”, CNN reported. The source said Corker remains on Trump’s list of potential vice presidential running mates.

And he called Clinton a “heartless hypocrite” for wanting to tighten some gun purchasing regulations while she has her own Secret Service protection (something he’s had for months as well). I can tell you, ‘ he said to loud applause.

“If she gets just one Supreme Court nomination, Hillary’s court will hold that the (US Constitution’s) Second Amendment is a government right, not an individual right, and you can kiss your guns goodbye”, LaPierre said.

After claiming that Obama released from jail thousands of violent criminals, drug dealers and “illegal immigrants” who “prey on civilians”, Trump said Hillary would greatly expand such alleged efforts while confiscating the guns of vulnerable women, making them easy targets for such criminals.

“Don’t give them the one-finger salute, give them the full wave”, he said.
