IBF champion Joshua ready to fight anyone

“There’ll probably be some negativity about how easy it is, but two days ago Charles Martin was a big, unsafe southpaw and he had the confidence to come over here and fight in the lion’s den”, said a humble Joshua, who was crowned world champions after just 16 fights.

Martin was unable to respond to the second blow 92 seconds into the second round following an emphatic performance from the unbeaten Joshua. I have to keep on improving because I have people like Haye calling me out, Tyson Fury calling me out, all of them.

The UK’s Joshua, after taking the first round to size his opponent up, quickly pounced on the opportunities given to him and dropped Martin in the second round with a textbook straight right hand to the lefty’s open guard.

When asked about the “Notorious”, Joshua had nothing but compliments to say about the Dubliner, and said that he hopes McGregor can bounce back from his defeat to Nate Diaz.

There is a danger, however, that his first title defence could be overshadowed by WBA and WBO champion Fury’s rematch with Klitschko.

The lights were bright this weekend at the O2 Arena this past weekend, and Heavyweight Anthony Joshua capped the night with a 2nd round knock out of American Charles Martin to take the IBF World title.

Joshua responded to his compatriot: “I’m going to walk through Tyson Fury when’s he’s ready”.

“I’m not saying Haye and Fury are next but they are certainly on the radar and pressure will be on us after a defence or two”, said Hearn.

But not before Joshua could line up another British head-to-head with former champion, David Haye, who had a comeback victory and fights again in May.

In a post-fight interview with BoxingScene.com, Martin complained about the stoppage.

We will have to see going forward how he does against better opposition.

“Regarding all the hype, I stay tucked away in the gym and when I am not I am in Asda, Ikea, just doing usual things.

Martin learned the hard way that you can not fight passive against Joshua.

“We might have a little something planned for July 9 at the National Stadium”, revealed Hearn to Sky Sports Box Office.

We don’t know how good Joshua is because Martin was no real test due to him not throwing any punches in the fight.

Well, I think a lot of boxing fans think Joshua only won a world title because he fought the right guy that was vulnerable against a fighter like him.
