Ibrahimovic: Manchester United can not afford more mistakes

Ibrahimovic now has 26 goals and nine assists in 41 appearances this season, proving that he’s one of the most valuable players in Mourinho’s squad.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has criticised Maroune Fellaini for his “mistake” in Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Everton on Tuesday evening.

He later added in his post-match press conference: “That disallowed goal was wrong but I am not unhappy with the linesman and I have told him so”, Mourinho said. It’s the right decision, but one minute and you win the game.

“After pressure, after pressure, after pressure the goal finally arrived and at least you don’t have the feeling of defeat”. Everton did so with Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley, but while United have the pace of Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard to attack on the counter, they rarely do so.

Indeed, it sounds like Mourinho is rehashing Pat Sharp’s old Fun House schtick – “Use your body and your brain if you want to play the game…”

“But the spirt was good and the pride was there and the Manchester United way of fight was there”.

“We have to do more”, he said. Because of that we are in the position we are. “The spirit in the second half was phenomenal, but with some players really in trouble — some by the physical point of view, some others clearly with the confidence levels low. We have chances and we need to score goals”.

“And the communication was possible because we were very close but I was thinking for him”.

“At the end we equalised”.

Ashley Williams was sent off for handling a goalbound shot by substitute Luke Shaw, enabling Ibrahimovic to calmly score the equaliser from the spot.

“I thought we played some good stuff, especially the first half”. Let us know in the comments section below! “We felt like we could have taken all three points and it definitely feels like a case of two points dropped”. The one lack of judgement in the 92nd minute cost us. “We’re obviously giving ourselves the tougher task but we’re not giving up”.

Ibrahimovic was back in the side following a three-game domestic suspension and had a header incorrectly ruled out for offside in the 71st minute, when it appeared United would follow Saturday’s 0-0 draw against West Brom with another frustrating home stalemate.

The 27-year-old has been a star for the Toffees throughout the season and was at the heart of their midfield as they took the game to United in the first half. United could’ve maybe forced themselves back into the top four race, and while the odds are against them doing so after this result, it’s not so unrealistic a proposition that they should give up now. But it isn’t a team that is from the start pressing, pressing, pressing. “United play a different system to Liverpool”. “You don’t need so much talent, so much intention”.
