Ibrahimovic seals Community Shield victory for Manchester United

His replacement, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, is a lofty 5ft 10in.

Having been a manager for 15 years now, the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid boss admits that transfer figures in world football have gone mad as he thinks that Pogba’s transfer “is a lot of money, I think football is insane”. Mata is the smallest one.

“I think he played very well”. Speaking to MUTV after the 5-2 win over Galatasaray in Gothenburg, Mourinho was asked about players who featured and whether or not they had conveyed enough to be part of Mourinho’s long term master plan. After Bournemouth, it doesn’t matter about the result, we will play against Southampton and we want to win.

Leicester levelled when Jamie Vardy pounced on a weak Marouane Fellaini back-pass but it would be Ibrahimovic’s day as his 83rd-minute header gave Mourinho his first silverware as United boss.

However, following the game at Wembley, Mourinho opted to dedicate the accolade to his predecessor and former colleague Louis van Gaal.

“He won the FA Cup to allow me to be back and have one more trophy”. The forward had a quiet debut after signing on a free transfer from PSG this summer but has targeted more trophies after a winning start. It was hard to leave out good players like Memphis Depay, Phil Jones and Ashley Young, but I had to make choices.

“My ambition is a stupid ambition”, Mourinho said.

Leicester attacked the game with the intensity that characterised last season’s title triumph and procured several chances of their own.

“But our desire to do well and work and improve (is our biggest strength)”.

“It’s something that we also have to change because the profile of this team was more about possession of the ball”.

Ibrahimovic netted on his United debut with a stooping victor in Sunday’s Community Shield and the Swede showed his appreciation for Rashford during the recent friendly win over Galatasaray, when he rose to applaud the teenager’s run that earned a penalty.

“It feels good”, he said.

“This was a very important game for us – it was hard a year ago to reach the [FA Cup] final and win the cup, so it’s an honour if you can play this game. I’m super happy. Hopefully I can win much more than this”, Ibrahimovic told BT Sport.

“Second half we played very well”. They were very strong.

We honestly can’t begin to imagine what Mourinho has against the man.
