Alastair Cook, the England skipper, has been named the captain of the ICC Test Team of the Year which also features his fellow-countrymen Joe Root and Stuart Broad.

The leading wicket-taker of 2015, India’s Ravichandran Ashwin, could only make it as far as 12th-man duties in the Test team, while there were no representatives for the world number one side South Africa.
In One-Day Internationals (ODI), AB de Villiers, the South African stalwart, has made it to the line-up for the fifth time and has been named the skipper for the first time. Paceman Mohammed Shami is the lone Indian in the first XI of the ODI outfit.
David Warner – one of three Australia players selected – was picked to open the batting with Cook in the Test side, while his national captain Steve Smith was included in both teams. Ashwin has been in brilliant form for India and has been central to ending South Africa’s nine-year-old unbeaten streak in Tests overseas.

Nottinghamshire fast bowler Stuart Broad has been named in the ICC Test team of the year.
Kumar Sangakarra, who recently retired from global cricket, has been selected as wicket-keeper and earns his fourth nomination (2011, 2012 and 2013) and is named alongside Sri Lankan team-mate Tillakaratne Dilshan, who was also selected in 2009, 2011 and 2013.
