The snub comes two months after Isaacs-the Academy’s first African American president-announced the creation of a five-year plan aimed at boosting diversity among Academy voters, who decide the Oscar nominations. “Straight Outta Compton”, which is about the roots of black hip-hop group NWA, nominated only for its original screenplay.

The tally also includes six nods for “Bridge of Spies”, which it shared with Walt Disney Co.
