Ice Cube is ready to say “Humbug”.

Currently riding high on the success of Ride Along, the Jump Street films and Straight Outta Compton, Ice Cube is about to have a very happy Christmas. This might be a good time for Cube to capitalize on that image of himself, to make something truly edgy.

According to Deadline, the hip-hop star and actor will be playing the lead in the latest adaptation of the Dickensian classic, which will see the self-centred money maker as a real estate mogul.

As Humbug, Cube will become a successful realtor who is given a lesson in life by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future, reports Deadline. Instead, he’s about to play Scrooge.

The 46-year-old star – who initially found fame as part of the iconic rap group N.W.A. – is to play the central role in the Tim Story-directed retelling of the story. The movie is set for a possible 2017 release, but that’s not confirmed yet. The two also worked on the “Ride Along” series for Universal with the sequel bowing this January with Story directing and Cube and Kevin Hart co-starring.
