Iceland left out of Federation Internationale de Football Association 17 after ‘cash feud’ with EA

Iceland, who are ranked 27th in the world, have not featured in previous editions of the game, but were hopeful of getting into latest version after making a huge impression at this summer’s Euro 2016 finals. “They offered under two million Icelandic crowns (£13,300)”.
EA’s initial offer of $15,000 United States dollars (£11,501) for the official rights was rejected by Iceland.
“We made them a counter offer, which they did not accept”, KSI president Geir Thorsteinsson told AFP. It’s sad for the players – but the criticism should be towards EA Sports.
Indeed, Iceland produced a memorable display to beat England 2-1 in the first knockout round, before they were eventually eliminated by host nation France in the quarter-finals.
However, unlike other years, players will only get access to Ultimate Team and a portion of the new single-player Journey mode.
“I didn’t feel that this was done in a fair and open manner”, Thorsteinsson added.
Or at least until Xbox One gamers with EA Access get to play the full Federation Internationale de Football Association game from Thursday (September 22).
It’s emerged that Iceland have been omitted from FIFA 17, the forthcoming instalment of the hugely popular football franchise, due to a row over money.
