Ichiro becomes 30th player to record 3000th hit

– No. 3,000 also ties Ichiro with Roberto Clemente at No. 29 on the all-time Major League Baseball hit list.

Regardless, there is no disputing the enormous achievements of Ichiro, who is still playing at age 42 and has said he believes he can play until age 50.

He is also the fourth player born outside of the United States to reach 3,000 hits, joining Clemente, Rod Carew and Rafael Palmeiro. The hit was the 3,000th in S.

Ichiro began his US career with the Seattle Mariners, after playing nine seasons in Japan’s professional baseball league. It was only fitting he flashed both in his historic moment.

August 07 2016: Miami Marlins Outfielder, Ichiro Suzuki (51) connects for a triple and his 3,000th career hit during a regular season Major League Baseball game between the Colorado Rockies and the visiting Miami Marlins at Coors Field in Denver, CO. And most impressive of all, the guy’s 42 years old and I can’t remember him ever being on the disabled list.

Already a member of Japanese baseball’s Hall of Fame (The Golden Players Club) after nine seasons, Ichiro carved out a second Hall of Fame career on the major league stage over the next 16 campaigns. “But later, I found out that Paul Molitor is the only other person to do it with a triple, and I have a close relationship with him”.

Christian Yelich, who had three RBI, doubled home two runs, and with two outs, Jeff Mathis, who also had three RBI, hit a two-run double.

Nolan Arenado did most of that damage, mashing two dingers to drive in four runs. Arenado led off the inning with a home run.

Adam Conley (8-6) allowed six runs in five innings. Fernando Rodney, the fifth Marlins’ pitcher, worked the ninth to earn his 18th save this season and first with the Marlins.

In the third inning, Sano launched a three-run homer to left-center field for his 17th blast of the season to give the Twins a 3-1 lead. Ichiro’s long fly ball bounced off the wall in right and toward the infield, and Ichiro easily reached third base, where his Marlins teammates – emptying out of the nearby visitors’ dugout – mobbed him.

“He’s just continuing to roast me right now but it’s all in good fun”, Bour said with a smile. “That’s what you’re supposed to do”. “That’s what you’re supposed to do: show him his respect, show him that we respect his milestone”.

“On behalf of the Seattle Mariners organization and the fans of the Northwest, I would like to congratulate Ichiro on his 3,000 hit in Major League Baseball”.

“For the last couple of weeks there have been a lot of members of the media following me”, Suzuki said.

Rose, however, bristled at the idea of being No. 2 to Suzuki, telling USA Today Sports, “they’re trying to make me the Hit Queen (in Japan)”.

“For me, it’s been an honor to watch him play, an honor to have managed him”, Mattingly said. Even so, as long as Fernandez stays healthy, he soon will hit the lottery because his pitching prowess is unquestioned. Everything he does is a tribute to the game of baseball.
