Ichiro triples for 3000th hit

He was completely dominated allowing 10 hits and eight runs in just 3.2 innings. With a seventh-inning triple off Chris Rusin, the 42-year-old became the 30th man in baseball history to reach the 3,000-hit plateau. More than the number (3,000), you saw how my teammates came out.

And he had 262 of those 3,000 hits in the 2004 season – an Major League Baseball single-season record. His 192 strikeouts are already a career high, five more than he had in 2013.

Suzuki had 2,533 of those 3,000 hits in 12 seasons in Seattle, where he made his Major League Baseball debut in 2001 as a 27-year-old rookie. Suzuki joined Paul Molitor as the only players whose 3,000th hit was a triple. At 37, Beltre is having a good, though not great, season, and he’s now averaging 1.06 hits per game.

Nolan Arenado did most of that damage, mashing two dingers to drive in four runs. Charlie Blackmon singled home a run in the third, and the Rockies added two runs in the fourth.Arenado led off the inning with a home run. Hunter Cervenka, Nick Wittgren, Kyle Barraclough and Fernando Rodney would come out of the bullpen to close out the game and secure the win on a historic day for baseball and the Marlins. Taking advantage of his exquisite bat control and his speed, Suzuki delivered the ball to positions where no fielder stood, accumulating hits in a way that no one could imitate.

The Colorado crowd gave him a rousing ovation while Suzuki’s teammates poured out of the third-base dugout to celebrate the moment.

The anticipation of history being made was unmistakably present around Coors Field all Sunday afternoon. He appeared to become a little emotional when he was told fans at Safeco Field in Seattle stuck around after the Mariners game ended to watch him get 3,000. I’m going go over video (Monday) of some of my good games and find out what’s making everything so bad.

“I was fortunate to have both the pleasure of competing against him and the honour of playing alongside him”. Colorado’s All-Star third baseman went 3-for-3 with his 28th and 29th home runs of the season, marking his fourth multi-homer game this season. “He shows our guys how you do it”. “Obviously I wanted to see it go over the fence”, Suzuki said through a translator. Ichiro walked in the ninth in his final plate appearance.

Earlier this season, Suzuki passed Rose for most combined hits in the major leagues and Japan.

Since coming over from Japan, Ichiro has won the American League batting title twice and led the AL in hits seven times, including five consecutive seasons.

Carlos Beltran has 2,570 career hits, but likely will wind up retiring at the end of 2016.

“I’ve been feeling this for the last two weeks, not getting an opportunity to get in there and getting a pinch hit every night, that was tough”, he said. “I feel like I haven’t been able to do that as much as I’d like lately”. “I’ve just been more fortunate those other times”.

At 42 years, 290 days he is the second-oldest player by three days over Ricky Henderson to reach the milestone. (The score) got to 8-6…that was a huge hit.
