ICYMI in NFL’s Week 2: NFC East bizarre so far; Romo injured
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) Despite a couple of heartbreaking last-minute losses, the New York Giants just might have a shot at turning around things in the unsettled NFC East. “So I’ve been getting more reps in the slot this week”.

On paper, Washington has no business being in the conversation for a chance at the NFC East divisional title.
Again, good for Coughlin if he can get his players to buy it. But I don’t. Coughlin also suggested he might draw on that experience to try and inspire this year’s team, saying, “I think reinforcement can be a good thing”.
“It’s something to be excited about, so we’ve got to go out there and put ourselves in situations to win in the fourth quarter like we’ve been doing, but now we’ve just got to do the job and finish the job that we started”.
It started for the Cowboys in week one with the loss of Dez Bryant to a foot fracture and then Tony Romo fractured his left collarbone in week two. Expect Mathews to at least get more of an opportunity to see what he can do, even though this is largely a product of what is in front of the running backs; the Eagles offensive line has been horrific, allowing penetration right off the snap. The Giants continue to find new ways to beat themselves and lose games, blowing 10-point fourth quarter leads in both games.
“He got inside of me”, Maxwell said via NJ.com. Either way, it’s bad.
To quarterback Eli Manning, however, it is all about the present and all about getting that elusive first win of the season to help take some of the pressure off the players.
Washington Redskins Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams was looking ahead to his surprisingly in-the-thick-of-it team’s early showdown against the New York Giants, coming up on Thursday night. The Redskins are now statistically in the top of the National Football League in total defense and rushing. In the first game of the season, Alfred Morris of the Redskins ran for 121 yards and, in the second, Matt Jones ran for 123 yards. Seven or eight wins might be all it takes to win the division this year, and Washington is fully capable of being that mediocre team that sneaks into the playoffs. The defense, which starts safety Brandon Meriweather, who was given up on by the Redskins, has just two sacks and two interceptions while being part of a defense that has surrendered 351 passing yards per game. As much as he wanted to be out there, he said that he realized that he would have to make a sacrifice now so that he could be there for his team as the season churns on.
Jay Gruden made his message clear from the beginning. Sam Bradford, Demarco Murray, Kiko Alonzo and Ryan Mathews headline the slew of injury prone players he acquired. The rookie first-round pick did not practice today after leaving Sunday’s game with an ankle injury.
If Jennings had scored, Dallas would have had to score quickly and then recover an onside quick with enough time to score one more time. Mathews was released from San Diego after having all the talent a team could ask for, but while also being hurt more than healthy.
Linebacker Jon Beason (knee) did not make his debut Sunday and there’s uncertainty he’ll be on the field against the Redskins.
“We’re right there, man”, he said. The offensive line is in shambles, DeMarco Murray has 11 rushing yards in two games and Kelly said he is “embarrassed” with the state of his offense. The Eagles offense was ineffective and stagnate.
The Giants and Redskins have been rivals for years, playing each other for the first time in 1932. No more delay of games, bad play-calls, fumbles in the red zone or dropped passes. Nobody was biting yet Kelly continued to fish. They looked tremendous on defense last week in losing narrowly to Peyton Manning and Co.at Denver, then got embarrassed against Carr and Oakland.
Romo suffered the same injury in 2010 that forced him to miss the final 10 games of the season. Cousins ranks a low 25th, but the Giants rank dead last against the pass, giving he Redskins an advantage in this game. Who can blame them though? “So I’ll play the best I can for the time that I have”. I am not, however, sold on Chip the GM.

“I think my confidence just comes from, ‘Hey, I’ve made plays”. We don’t want to throw the ball 50 times. It does mean he doesn’t have to look over his shoulder after every mistake. The Eagles and Giants have been vanquished, and up next is a trip to Dallas, the division’s defending champion. The fist four weeks of the season always seems a little off to me and teams don’t really settle down until around the fifth game.
