Idris Elba’s ‘Star Trek Beyond’ Villain: What Does Simon Pegg Think?

Fortunately for them, it has been confirmed that the impending Star Trek TV series (which recently added a familiar face behind the camera) will be set in the franchise’s original continuity.

In addition, Bad Robot, the television and film production company owned by J.J. Abrams has just signed a contract with the revolutionary cinema tech developer Barco, aiming to get Bad Robot, Paramount, and Skydance to have a special release for “Star Trek Beyond” using the new Barco system.

Consulting producer and Star Trek director Nicholas Meyer previously said that Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country was ” a real sort of taking off point or touchstone” for how new Star Trek showrunner Bryan Fuller is thinking about the show. However, the site also claimed that J.J. Abrams alternate Star Trek reboot universe will not be included since the new series will be set in the continuity of classic films and shows.

Check out all the rumors at Birth. But it does appear to be a step in the right direction…if the report pans out. That actually fits in with the established history. “We always had agreed that the Enterprise would be off on its five-year mission, as well as making a film that lots of people could go and see and say, ‘Hey what’s this Star Trek?’ And then go back 50 years”. That lingering resentment seems like a good motive for some Klingon adversaries.

This means that fans will now see an entirely new Star Trek universe with each season.

The brand-new “Star Trek” will introduce new characters seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations, while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966.

CBS All Access has the Star Trek reboot series scheduled to premiere some time in 2017.
