If Jacob deGrom is hurt, the Mets are screwed
Concerns over Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom are growing.

Then, after laboring through his fifth and final inning as his fastball sagged to as low as 91 miles per hour, deGrom made the seemingly ominous motion for the medical staff.
Last night, the New York Mets lost the final game of a four-game series against the Miami Marlins by a score of 6-4.
DeGrom was examined today, results were “good” in that no structural damage.
“Everthing’s fine”, deGrom said. His control was erratic and his body language showed the signs of a frustrated pitcher who can’t locate the stuff which brought him to the big show in the first place. “But I think it’s just making sure is nothing”. Or, as NY manager Terry Collins said Walker told him Wednesday night, “Not sure I can help”.
“You go 0-for-4 with strikeouts, and you feel like it’s 4-for-4 with all the positive energy”, Gomez said of his time with the Rangers. “Like I said, this was a very hard decision”. But I haven’t been in the training room, either.
DeGrom’s labored through 102 pitches in five innings of work, giving up three runs on six hits.
DeGrom struck out six batters, however he walked a season-high four. That had prompted manager Terry Collins, suspecting fatigue, to skip deGrom’s turn Monday.
Puma added that deGrom will likely miss his next start.
Every single one of the Mets’ young potential aces has dealt with an injury this season, including Steven Matz, who is still out due to a shoulder impingement.
The Mets have used a patchwork rotation lately that includes rookies Seth Lugo and Robert Gsellman. Rafael Montero, Gabriel Ynoa and Logan Verrett are candidates to start Tuesday. The shaggy-haired ace then waved for head trainer Ray Ramirez as he headed down the dugout tunnel toward the clubhouse when he was done. DeGrom hit a liner up the middle that Yelich, playing shallow for the pitch, rushed in to grab off the grass.
“The more I tried to push through it, I realized I was hurting the team and myself”, Walker said Thursday prior to the team’s game against the Miami Marlins. Wheeler was diagnosed two weeks ago with a flexor muscle strain.
For now, Noah Syndergaard – pitching through a bone spur – is now the last original starting pitcher standing, along with Bartolo Colon.
DeGrom insisted his issue is purely mechanical.

“What did I walk, four guys?” “Little cooler, don’t know if I was over-gripping the ball – when it’s a little cooler it’s tougher to get a grip on it”. I got exhausted toward the end.
