IFA 2015: The Sony Xperia Z5 could have a 4K screen

Sony has amped up the specs of the Xperia Z5, which is only expected, considering that the company has been reported to have had struggles in the market lately.

It’s been 5 months after the Z4 release, and now we eagerly welcome not one, not two but three new additions to the Z family: the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and 4K Xperia Z5 Premium.

The Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact can boast of a 23 megapixel camera that has been rebuilt from the ground up especially for the new generation of phones – even using tech from their full-size, professional photographer aimed DSLR cameras. Good thing the Z5 Premium has quick charging!

The device also feels a smidge chunkier than much of the competition (it’s a hair thicker than the iPhone 6 Plus and S6 edge+), and isn’t helped by the square-shoulders design. New sound enhancements also reduce ambient noise by up to 98 per cent whenever the user listens to music from the phone via headphones.

The three also differ in the sizes of the screen and their respective resolutions. During testing the interface was ultra responsive, and we didn’t find a single performance hitch. It’ll be a 5-megapixel shooter across all three devices.

Notably, Sony has managed to squeeze a fingerprint into the side-facing power button on all three phones. Other devices might be at par with the Z5 Premium, but based on pixel density, it is definitely the smartphone to beat. The Z5 is rated for 2,900mAh, the Z5 Compact 2,700mAh and the Z5 Premium 3,430mAh.

When it comes to RAM, the Z5 and Z5 Premium devices will feature 3GB of RAM and while the Z5 Compact will feature only 2GB of RAM.

The Sony Xperia Z5 line has been unveiled at the recent IFA 2015 in Berlin, Germany. One of the standout features of this premium version is a 4K resolution display, in fact it’s the first of its kind in the world for a smartphone.
