Ilkay Gundogan heaps praise on Man City team-mate Sergio Aguero

The Argentina worldwide has hit the ground running under Pep Guardiola by scoring nine goals in his first five games, including two hat-tricks with just a month of the season played.

“We are playing with a different system this year, another way of playing”.

Having seen the Argentine striker give him the ideal start to City’s Champions League campaign in a 4-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach, Guardiola admitted there was nothing left to train.

Surely we need to go 4-5-1 for this one to try and stifle the City midfield/attack.

“Every team needs to score to win games, and if you have such an incredible striker in your own rows, then it gives you the safety you are always able to score”.

However, the Argentine will remain at the Etihad for a further year and a source told ESPN FC that the extension was agreed in principle in January. Individually I think they’ve got outstanding players and they’ve got a manager who, in my opinion, is right at the very top.

“By not playing some games you lose some rhythm but I am happy to be playing again and for the goals”.

For manager Pep Guardiola, however, Aguero’s role is about much more than scoring goals.

It was the same old story on Wednesday, with only 30,270 spectators inside the 55,000-seater Etihad for a game City won 4-0 with some irresistible attacking football. I am back a little earlier than I thought.

Aguero, who is now serving a three-match domestic ban for elbowing West Ham United’s Winston Reid, scored the latest of those trebles in the 4-0 thrashing of Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday evening to extend the Citizens’ flawless start to the campaign.

But we’re very happy. With his former club Barcelona, as well as Celtic, lying in wait in Group C, Guardiola had warned his players that a strong start in the competition was imperative.Guardiola said it was “not a big problem” but the Spaniard could be doubtful for the weekend Premier League clash against Bournemouth.
