Illness hit campaign staff before Clinton got pneumonia

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will release additional medical records this week, her campaign said Monday, moving to contain concerns about her well-being and forthrightness after she stumbled exiting a 9/11 ceremony.

Clinton had been seeking to bounce back from a blunder Friday, when she told donors that half of Trump’s supporters belonged in a “basket of deplorables” – so Sunday’s episode was certainly ill-timed. Clinton’s campaign said the Democratic presidential nominee left the 9/11 anniversary ceremony in NY early after feeling “overheated”. “Obviously, I should have gotten some rest sooner”. “But I think after yesterday’s incident, everybody was agreed that she should take a couple of days off the trail”. So, I felt fine, but I’m now taking my doctor’s advice, which was given to me on Friday that I ignored, to just take some time to get over pneumonia completely. I felt overheated. I decided that I did need to leave. That’s in addition to 40 years of tax returns and tens of thousands of emails, said Clinton.

But she denied that she passed out.

The Democratic presidential nominee was asked about her health by Anderson Cooper on AC360 Monday night, after she appeared to collapse at the 9/11 memorial on Sunday. They’ve got 40 years of my tax returns, tens of thousands of emails, a detailed medical letter report, all kinds of personal details – and, you know, it’s just so unusual that, with all of that information out there, as soon as it became clear I couldn’t power through, we said what was going on.

Aides drove her to her daughter Chelsea’s NY apartment, where she emerged several hours later, looking bright and telling reporters she felt great.

“I probably would have been better off if I had just pulled down my schedule Friday”, Mrs. Clinton said. “Deplorable is not one of them, I reassure you”, said one woman at an evening rally in Asheville, N.C.

A stomach virus and dehydration prompted her to faint, causing what her doctor said was a concussion.

Trump told Fox News he had a physical last week and would release “very, very specific numbers” once test results are back.

Clinton said that when she entered the air-conditioned van and drank Gatorade, she immediately felt better.

Clinton’s campaign earlier released a July 2015 letter from Dr. Lisa Bardack describing Clinton as “a healthy 67-year-old female whose current medical conditions include hypothyroidism and seasonal pollen allergies”.

“The same can not be said for Donald Trump”, she said.

Clinton was resting at home on doctor’s orders on Monday, and phoning into a fundraising event in San Francisco, said spokesman Nick Merrill.

“I think really only twice, that I can recall”, Clinton said. “I have a hard time keeping up with her”. Her husband, former President Bill Clinton will headline some of her events, an aide announced late Monday.
