Immigration order should ‘be promptly reconsidered — APLU president

But Johnson advised that those individuals not travel outside the country, and to talk with officials in the university’s International Student Services office if they do leave. A federal judge blocked part of the executive order Saturday and prevented the deportation of some who had arrived in the United States after the order was enacted.

In an email sent to campus Mon., BU President Gary Roberts said President Trump’s executive order is causing “anxiety” to students, faculty, staff and their families. Previous year a total of 211 worldwide students were from Saudi Arabia, which is surrounded by numerous countries on the list and is majority Muslim.

The MU campus has 140 students from those seven countries, most of which are from Iraq and Iran.

Blank said the university’s diversity has historically been a source of “strength and innovation”, and said UW-Madison is calling for a reconsideration of Trump’s order barring the entry or return of people from certain countries.

Iowa State University is proud to have enrolled a record 4,131 global students from 121 countries last fall (including 115 students from countries identified in the executive order).

Officials laid out five principles to show a “commitment to the safety and success of all GW students” in December after students presented a list of demands to administrators in the wake of the incoming President-elect Trump’s administration.

The UNI statement was issued to help students, and others in the campus community, be informed about what is happening with the executive order. “We are a stronger community because you are here”. We will advocate for you. “My leadership team and I are here to support you in any way possible”. The voices of higher education leaders “are being heard loudly and clearly in Washington”, he said.

University of Texas President Gregory L. Fenves said Sunday that his school has 110 “students, faculty members and scholars” who are citizens of the affected countries.

Gray-Little says based on what they know, they are advising all nationals from the affected countries to avoid worldwide travel until there there is clarification of the situation, including passport holders, citizens, nationals and dual nationals from the impacted countries.

In the statement, Blank committed to monitoring the situation and keeping worldwide individuals on campus informed. It also blocked refugees from any country from entering the US for the next 120 days.
