Impact hold on for 3-2 playoff win over TFC

This one wasn’t late December back in ’63 – like the classic song by The Four Seasons – it was late November ’16 at the Big O and it’s a night Impact fans won’t soon forget.

The Western Conference Final features the rather improbable matchup of Seattle and Colorado. And this year we are in the conference final, so it’s a good progress. We had enough numbers behind the ball to deal with all of them. “We’ve set ourselves up extremely well for the return leg, but there’s part of the hardest work in front of us, still”. The original lines had to be painted over in green and then new ones were painted in white after being measured properly.

The youth club has kept this tradition for a long time, budgeting to take about a thousand club members to the BMO Field for various regular seasons games – for a rare chance to participate in pre-game activities and interact with pro athletes. Patrice Bernier turned in a wonderful performance, including a ideal through ball to set up Oduro’s opener, before coming off in the second half. “We’ve been in situations like this before [at Olympic Stadium] where we have 61,000 fans”.

Two minutes later, Oduro intercepted a Steven Beitashour pass and lofted it to Ignacio Piatti on the left wing.

The midfielder’s first touch took him into Clint Irwin’s box; he used the second to slide the ball past the Reds goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.

“Speaking about next week’s game is more important than if it is finished or not”, he told reporters of his career. Will Johnson and Tosaint Ricketts came on to replace Armando Cooper and Jonathan Osorio, which dropped 2015 league MVP Sebastian Giovinco from a striker role deeper into an attacking midfield spot.

“The positive is we scored three goals and we won”, said Drogba.

Happy with what he has been able to accomplish with the Impact during his short stay, Drogba hopes they can go one step further and reach the MLS Cup final with a positive result next week in Toronto.

“This is where dreams begin for a lot of young players”, Biello said. But given that Montreal is the lowest seed left in the playoffs, they will not be hosting the MLS Cup, even if they do get there.

With last week’s Federation Internationale de Football Association global break, it had been 16 days since either team last played a match.
