Imran Farooq murder: FIA to secure arrest warrants for Altaf, Anwar, Iftikhar
Sources in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), have admitted that after their statement, the FIA had got a clue to move in a certain direction and soon a number of arrests will be made in Karachi and London with regard to the persons involved in Imran Farooq’s murder.

Earlier on Thursday, two prime suspects of the case, Khalid Shamim and Mohsin Ali, confessed to the crime in front of the judicial Magistrate.
Meanwhile, the MQM made it clear that none of its workers had anything to do with the assassination of Dr Farooq.
The sources further said that Shamim also disclosed that a senior MQM leader Muhammad Anwar issued order for the murder of Farooq.
On December 5, the FIA had registered a case against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain and other party leaders for their alleged involvement in the 2010 murder of Dr Imran Farooq.
Shamim said that he had consented to join the murder plot because he was a diehard MQM activist, sources said.
MQM’s version came a day after two suspects in the murder – Khalid Shamim and Mohsin Ali – pleaded guilty before a magistrate, admitting their role in the high profile murder.
It is pertinent to mention here that the MQM leaders have been nominated in the First Information Report (FIA) filed in Pakistan. After they had recorded their statements, both suspects were sent on judicial remand to Adiala Jail.
Now the statements have a legal status and can be used against other co-accused which also includes MQM chief Altaf Hussain along with Muhammad Anwar, Iftikhar Hussain and Kashif Khan Kamran.
In his statement recorded under Section 164 of the criminal procedure code, Mohsin said that Moazzam had handled the travel documents to live in the United Kingdom.
Farooq, 50, a founding member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) party was stabbed and beaten to death in Edgware, northwest London in September 2010. “These individuals have allegedly named MQM personnel as having ordered the killing”, it said.
