Imran Khan meets PM Modi

Stressing on the importance of dialogue between New Delhi and Islamabad, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday said the people of his country want the relationship between the two nations should improve.

“They welcomed recent developments in bilateral relations and expressed hope that these would lead to closer cooperative ties between the two countries”, Swarup added.

In a statement issued by the Indian Prime Minister, Indian Foreign Ministry Spokesman stated Imran Khan met Narendra Modi at the request of the latter.

Khan, a former cricket star who now heads Pakistan’s third biggest party had in the past criticised Modi and Sharif for failing to do enough to sustain peace on both sides of the border.

“I told PM Modi today also that during talks there will be attempts by some to sabotage it but we should remain determined”, Imran told reporters here.

Imran Khan is also expected to discuss with India the unresolved issue of holding bilateral cricket series between the two countries. The event is being hosted by India Today, according to a tweet by the PTI’s official account. He said that thinking of the Indian prime minister is changing.
