BARACK OBAMA: After years now of record corporate profits, working families won’t get more opportunity or bigger paychecks just by letting big banks or big oil or hedge funds make their own rules at everybody else’s expense.

I am looking forward to this new year and what it brings in the world of American politics.

“You hear a bunch of folks right across the river and I don’t know if the TV has drifted over here, but they’re kind of depressing”, he said. The president also touted a new effort led by Vice President Joe Biden to fight cancer, aimed at increasing public and private resources and breaking down barriers to collaboration among researchers.

“The future we want is within our reach”. “America is at its best when we see each other as one people”.

HORSLEY: Haley stood by her remarks today, saying if the country’s going to move forward together, we all have to look in the mirror. It will only happen if we can have rational, constructive debates, the US President said.

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, chosen to deliver the response, went as far as to join Mr Obama in thinly veiled criticisms of Mr Trump.
