According to ANI, Ojha was returning from a wedding when some unidentified assailants fired at him and fled the scene. Today morning another local BJP leader Kedar Singh was shot dead in Chapra. Ojha was also facing several criminal charges including attempt to murder (IPC Section-307). Ojha had unsuccessfully contested against RJD nominee and former MP Shivanand Tiwari’s son Rahul Tiwari from Shahpur constituency. Ojha’s driver and another person accompanying him were seriously injured in the firing.
The BJP leaders have given 72 hours to the government to arrest the killers of Mr. Ojha failing which “a State-wide protest will take place”.
Earlier, state BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi and other central party leaders citing series of crime incidents including murder of two engineers in Darbhanga had raised the slogan of jungle raj-2 in the state.

Meanwhile, BJP’s state unit leaders have condemned the killing of its senior party functionaries. “BJP leader Sh. Visheshwar Ojha’s murder points to increasing goondaism &failure of law and order under Nitish govt”. “Criminals are running the government and politicians are being killed”, he said. LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan asked Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar if “jungle raj had returned in Bihar”. The incident took place just a day after the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reviewed the law and order situation in the state.
