IN holds off Rutgers behind Redding’s two TDs
IN coach Kevin Wilson saw his team snap a three-game losing streak last weekend with a 42-36 victory over Maryland. Almost all of them are on social media, where the chatter about IU’s football program around this time of year always centers on one question.

There are certain mismatches the Hoosiers will hope to exploit on Saturday. Hopefully he will be able to contribute more as IN begins a tough stretch of games. It’ll sound stupid and our angry friends from Rutgers will disagree, but you’d be hard-pressed to ever find a more dominant six-point win. Missed assignments on defense, a plethora of turnovers on offense, and a shocking performance by his special teams will make him reevaluate his team going forward. “I’m really proud of this team, I’m proud of how they fought, and I’m proud of this senior class for all their leadership”. You’re really lucky to win with the kicking errors we had on the PAT and field goal teams, we’re very fortunate to win.
It is hard to pick out who Indiana’s best players were. “We’re pointing to Rutgers”. Indiana’s defense finally has improved this season after many years of subpar play, and the Hoosiers have allowed a respectable 4.1 yards per carry. Rutgers (2-6) is the loser of five straight games with the most recent loss coming two weeks ago at Minnesota by a score of 34-32. While coaches say they haven’t put much thought into last season’s collapse, IU’s players may view this game differently.
It’s good anytime you win, even if it’s by six over Rutgers. IN is clearly positioned better. The Wolverines played the match without sophomore Marcello Borges, who was on U.S. National Team duty.
“When you talk about staying on schedule, when you get into a third-and-manageable situation, obviously drive and distance becomes a whole lot easier”, offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer said”. Play with fire and win, and move on. That’s not (only) here.
What caught the eye of the coaches was Rescigno’s play as the scout-team quarterback before the IL game.
“. You can’t eliminate the noise, but where do you keep your focus on?” We’re not, ” Ash said. Outside of Francis Atuahene’s 10 goals in his freshman year (2015), that is the most amount of goals for a MI freshman since 2012 when James Murphy had four goals as well. That wasn’t a goal the first year. “It’s more about hunger and getting that win and we can make a statement”. The real goal every day was getting better.
Sunday, Nov. 6 – Michigan/Rutgers victor at No. 1 Maryland – Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals (College Park, Md.), 4 p.m.
The Hoosiers did enough, however, to avoid embarrassment at the hands of one of the worst teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Ohio State is 7-1 and slotted at No. 6 in the College Football Playoff rankings.
Maryland and Iowa, meanwhile, are a win away from joining the postseason party. “They’ve played Washington, Michigan, Ohio State”. Will they take a similar tack this week? “Three of those teams will be going to bowl games probably and we’re right there with them”.
TIPPING THE SCALES: Hoosiers linebacker Tegray Scales has been on quite a run.

As mentioned above, Patrick blocked a punt to give the Hoosiers great field position and then made the most insane touchdown reception we’ve seen in a long, long time from an in player. Luckily for Maryland, the Scarlet Knights weren’t able to convert on any of them, thanks to great defending and solid goalkeeping from Sarah Bates. “That’s always been our process here”.
