In Iowa, Trump makes a play for Cruz’s evangelical base
Right to Rise will spend $1.43 million to play the ad in Iowa Dec. 29 and January 11, according to the Des Moines Register.

Rivals have tried to make an issue of Rubio’s attendance in the Senate.
The ad mentions that Rubio missed a briefing following the Paris terror attacks, and blasts him for being at a fundraising the same day as the San Bernardino attacks. Calling Rubio’s record of truancy the worst in the Senate for the past three years, the ad moves the rivalry between the two Florida presidential contenders into new territory. Asked about Christie’s comments, he said the governor had been away from New Jersey “half the time”.
“The only reason why you’re doing it now is because we’re running for the same position, and someone has convinced you that attacking me is going to help you”, Rubio fired back, receiving applause from the audience.
The former president will be campaigning for his wife in New Hampshire starting January 4, rallying supporters in Exeter and Nashua. He said that as a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, he received a briefing on the Paris attacks a full day before the rest of the Senate.
The new commercial, from Right to Rise USA, goes after Rubio, a Florida senator, for missing national-security hearings in the US Senate to campaign for president.
Citing an article in the Iowa Republican which declared Cruz “False Prophet Of Social Conservatism”, the former senator said many would look at Cruz and say, “what a minute, he says he’s these things, but he’s not”. “Missing a few votes does not bother me”.
“I think what America needs is more West Texas values, understanding to live within your means”, Cruz said.
Rubio spokesman Alex Conant said the campaign has no plans to “give up on states we can win”. Gowdy heads the GOP-led investigation into the 2012 Benghazi attacks, and Trump went after him on Sunday for backing Rubio.
Questions about Rubio’s organization efforts are echoed in other early voting states, including New Hampshire and SC.

“If you want to know whether or not Marco Rubio is a fiscal conservative, do what I did two weeks ago – do a gift exchange with him over Christmas”.
