In addition to the investigation into another non-travel associated Zika case today, health officials report six new travel-related cases today with two in Miami-Dade County, two in Hillsborough County, one in Polk County and one in Leon County.

Palm Beach County Mosquito Control inspected the area where the infected person lives and a spokesman said, “It was an extremely clean neighborhood, and no mosquitoes were present, juvenile or adult”.
In the Tampa Bay area, all confirmed cases remain travel related, which means the virus was contracted while patients were traveling outside of the state. In a release, the DOH said they still think active transmissions are only taking place within the identified Wynwood area.
Microcephaly, the condition that causes babies to be born with abnormally small heads, is typically diagnosed past the 24th week of pregnancy.
Dallas County is planning an aggressive attack against the Zika virus if and when the virus is found to be spreading locally, transmitted by mosquitoes here in North Texas. We apply the same criteria within and outside of the United States, and are working closely with the State of Florida and Miami health departments to provide preventive services, including mosquito control.
Peter Andre’s pregnant wife Emily was banned from a family holiday in Florida over fears she could contract the Zika virus. Even with thousands of reported cases of Zika during hot months, Rio was not hit as hard by the virus as Brazil’s northeast, for reasons that scientists and the government do not yet understand.
However, Texas Children’s Hospital Center for Vaccine Development director Dr. Peter Hotez told Fox News that the Zika virus is more contained than what people know.
Miami-Dade has 55 travel-related cases, the most of any county.

More than 7,300 Americans have been diagnosed with Zika, including 1,825 in the continental US and Hawaii, according to the CDC.

The Zika virus is particularly unsafe to pregnant women.
