According to reports, the U.S. delegation to Pakistan will hold talks with Pakistani civil and military authorities today to discuss the circumstances after the May 21, drone strike.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson pointed out that Islamabad’s enormous efforts to combat terrorism and support the Afghan reconciliation process needs to be recognised by the global community.

Pakistan will raise the issue of US drone attacks in the United Nations as they are against the country’s sovereignty, foreign affairs adviser Sartaj Aziz said today.

“The Quadrilateral Coordination Group (QCG) of Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and the USA is aiming at creating positive conditions for the reconciliation of Afghanistan, and all relevant parties should make joint efforts to achieve this goal”, he said.

He said drone strike has adversely affected peace efforts of the Quadrilateral Coordination Group on Afghanistan.

This will be the first high level contact between the two countries after Afghan Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mansoor was killed in a USA drone attack in Balochistan last month.

Meanwhile, as of now it is clear that China is ready or oppose to a push by the United States and other major powers for India to join the main club of countries controlling access to sensitive nuclear technology.
