In Phone Interview, Clinton Shuts Down False Narrative About Her Illness, Transparency

Mrs. Clinton canceled a campaign trip Monday to California, taking a two-day break from the race to recover from a bout of pneumonia that her campaign said was responsible for her near-collapse at a 9/11 commemoration ceremony in NY a day earlier. First, video surfaced showing Clinton being assisted as she stumbled while boarding a van. Chuck Schumer. “It was pretty hot out there, but she seemed fine to me, and left on her own accord”. “As soon as she got into the vehicle, she was alert the whole time, and was telling staff that she was fine. I probably would have been better off if I pulled my schedule Friday, but like a lot of people, I thought I could keep going and power through it, and that didn’t go so well”. Both promise to release additional details. “I think what we should be pushing for is erring on the side of transparency, to release medical records”.

Nearly five hours after the release of the video, the Clinton campaign released a statement from Clinton’s physician which read that Clinton had been diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday and left the memorial after becoming dehydrated and overheated. The Democratic presidential candidate abruptly left Sunday’s event after feeling “overheated”.

A video was released on Twitter where one moment she was seen staggering while waiting for her motorcade and the other moment she was seen slumping forward.

Her campaign said her husband, former President Bill Clinton, would campaign on her behalf while she rests. Clinton’s campaign was criticized for not disclosing her health issue earlier, and Fallon acknowledged on Monday that, “In retrospect, we could have handled it better in terms of providing more information more quickly”.

Clinton said in the live telephone interview with CNN that she started to feel hot at the event, which took place on a muggy day in NY.

Clinton also differentiated between drawing on long-standing relationships around Washington and the kind of “pay-to-play” allegations some have leveled at the foundation, saying he doesn’t know of any instance where someone donated to the foundation specifically to get face time with his wife. “T think it is concerning and I think the voters need and deserve to find out”.

“Clinton said she had similar dizzy spells in the past”. “… She called these Americans every name in the book – racist, sexist, xenophobic, Islamophobic – she said they were not even American….”

“Hillary will have to figure out what she’s willing to share and what she’s willing to explain”, Gingrich said.

Clinton, a senator from NY at the time of the 9/11 attacks in 2001, helped with recovery efforts and became a champion of first responders in the wake of the tragedy.

But she has instead been resting at home in Chappaqua, New York.

The episode has fueled fresh speculation and conspiracy theories on the internet, already awash with unsubstantiated rumors Clinton may have a brain tumor, Parkinson’s or dementia.

“Walking pneumonia just means a community-acquired pneumonia that’s less severe”, Kopas said. Clinton later said she regretted applying that description to “half” of Trump’s backers, but stuck by her assertion that the GOP nominee has given a platform to “hateful views and voices”. And I looked at him, he said, you know, that is so amusing, I have just been told I have pneumonia.

Clinton later appeared in front of cameras after the incident on Sunday.
