In reversal, Trump says claim about Obama, Islamic State was sarcastic
“I mean, give me a break”, he said. Mr Trump has clearly roiled the party with his unorthodox remarks, with some Republicans frustrated at his inability to stay on message. “I go back to a very good way of life”. Of course, he denies it, but who are you going to believe, Trump or your lying eyes?

PAGING MOSCOW: Last month Trump caused a stir in a news conference by saying “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails” missing from Clinton. “Our government has unleashed ISIS”, Trump said while speaking to the National Association of Home Builders. Trump did endorse Ryan a few days later.
“What concerns me is that followers, supporters listen, and they can take a statement like that and do something risky with that”, Zelizer said.
GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump said calling President Barack Obama the “founder of ISIS” was “sarcasm” setting off an increase in searches for the definition of “sarcasm”, according to Merriam-Webster.
The White House declined to comment on Trump’s accusation. “THEY DON’T GET SARCASM?” the real estate mogul tweeted Friday, referring to coverage of his comments at a Wednesday night rally. The campaign has not released details, but Trump typically also holds public campaign stops while in battleground states.
Such states are hotly contested because their populations can swing either to Republicans or Democrats and thus play a decisive role in presidential elections, which are ultimately decided by the state-by-state tally of the Electoral College.
Earlier this week, Trump said at a rally that should Clinton be elected, only the “Second Amendment people” could prevent her from appointing Supreme Court justices hostile to gun rights.
Trump worked hard to patch up his relationship with the Republican establishment after a brutal primary season, meeting with speaker of the House Paul Ryan and choosing IN governor Mike Pence as his running mate.
The first is that Trump agrees with Hewitt substantively, that his argument is the same as Hewitt’s, and that his only disagreement with Hewitt is over whether he should call Obama the “founder”.
CRIMEA RIVER: Heads spun in the foreign policy world when Trump said this month that Russian Federation wouldn’t enter Ukraine, seemingly unaware it already had.
By Friday morning, as the backlash to Trump’s comments was again threatening to knock out the potential to generate any positive news or electoral momentum, he began a familiar process – the walk-back. An NBC/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll out Friday showed Trump trailing Clinton by large margins in North Carolina, Virginia and Colorado and locked in a tight race in Florida.
Almost one-fifth of registered Republicans now want Trump to drop out of the race for the White House, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday.
As the Clinton campaign argued a year ago, when Jeb Bush used this same argument to blame the current administration for the chaos in Iraq, the Status of Forces Agreement under which the USA promised to withdraw all of its troops by the end of 2011 was in fact signed by President Obama’s predecessor, George W. Bush, on December 14, 2008 (during a visit to Baghdad better remembered for the nimble way Bush ducked when an Iraqi journalist hurled his shoes at him). They did however help ISIS come into being through their policies. It was Bush’s administration that negotiated the 2009 agreement that called for the withdrawal of all US forces from Iraq by December 31, 2011.
In a rare show of humility by the boastful billionaire, Donald Trump is acknowledging that his presidential campaign faces challenges and could ultimately fall short.

“The Republicans have a tougher path – not my fault”, he said.
