In speech of her life, Hillary Clinton promises a ‘clear-eyed’ vision

Hillary Clinton took the stage tonight to cement history and become the first woman to accept a major political party’s nomination for the presidency.

Obama, addressing the Democratic convention this week, had said, “What we heard in Cleveland last week wasn’t particularly Republican and it sure wasn’t conservative”.

In the end, Clinton’s speech relied on numerous most familiar lines she frequently employed on the campaign train.

It wasn’t sadness inside the local Democratic Party’s headquarters during a heavily attended watch party for Hillary Clinton’s acceptance speech Thursday night.

Now that both party conventions are finished, “Trump is going to be no more Mr”.

From the immigration to families whose suffered from losing loved ones in combat or those at the hands of domestic terrorism-each person before her addressed the nation with their personal story.

‘That is not the America I know, ‘ President Obama said.

“He wants us to fear the future and fear each other, he wants to divide us from the rest of the world, and from each other”, Clinton added in a wide-ranging speech that was alternately progressive and hawkish – and quoted Broadway’s Hamilton.

In her convention-closing speech Thursday night, Clinton admitted she wasn’t flawless. She also carefully explained why a man with the incompetence, anger, and dishonesty of Donald Trump isn’t fit to lead the way forward. Despite some ongoing resistance from Bernie backers she vowed to pinch some of his economic policies and also tackle issues like student debt which gained Sanders so much support.

And Trump did not want to forget to jab at former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who has apparently inherited the “little” mantle from former primary rival Florida Sen. Instead she asked voters to have faith and trust in her capacity for leadership, honed by decades of preparation including political experience as a U.S. senator, and global experience as Obama’s secretary of state.

“When any barrier falls in America, it clears the way for all”, she said. The Democratic event, packed with celebrities and well-received speeches by President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and former President Bill Clinton, had reached more viewers than the Republicans for each of the first three nights of their respective conventions.

For many, Clinton’s nomination goes far beyond politics.

Trump, a 70-year-old NY businessman who has never held political office, is running just ahead of Clinton in a RealClearPolitics average of recent national opinion polls.
