In ‘Tarzan,’ Skarsgard found instant chemistry with Margot Robbie
Throughout the majority of “The Legend of Tarzan”, I just kept wondering: When will the Phil Collins music start playing? That being said, the beginning of The Legend of Tarzan set up the history quite nicely, allowing someone with little-to-no knowledge of the story to enjoy the film. Flashbacks to Tarzan’s infancy and adoption by a great ape mother are nicely done. The tarzan is a name which most of the people knows as the guy who was lost from his parents when he was born and was raised up by the animals in the jungle.

“The Legend of Tarzan” is such a mess, cutting back-and-forth in time. But when the sinister Belgian captain Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz) invites him back to the jungle as an envoy, he soon finds himself tangled in a colonialist conspiracy that threatens both his former home and his new life. But Tarzan is still a story of a white man who has dominion over not just animals but also Africans, and it feels. icky.
Skarsgard had been talking about the role of Tarzan as getting a new lease on life with this picture. He definitely has the physical presence to make the character stand tall in the jungle. These plot points make the story all the more compelling and add a different twist to the version we have seen in the past. An American diplomat named George Washington Williams (Samuel L. Jackson) recruits the lead character on a fact-finding mission. “You meet him in London, drinking tea with the Prime Minister”, Skarsgård said. You would think by now that Waltz would have grown exhausted of playing the heavy, but he seems to relish the mild-manner aspect of villainy, and while Rom’s motives are convoluted and his plan overwrought, at least he has a personality, which is more than I can say for just about anyone else in the film. Margot Robbie was a flawless damsel in distress as Jane; who face managed to look ideal while running and falling through the jungle. I was able to follow it fine even though like you, I have only seen the Disney movie.
Still, the movie winds up a bit muddled, in part because it has to work so hard seeking to remedy more troubling aspects of the Tarzan mythology.
The Legend of Tarzan is an action adventure directed by David Yates (Harry Potter 5-8). From mist filled jungles to rolling fields of grass, Tarzan’s world is shown in awesome scope. It turns out that while the pair had plenty of chemistry, there were some times when they weren’t on the same page. The apes looked big, scary, and ready to lunge out of the screen.

“It’s possible, even likely, that more effort was expended on sculpting Alexander Skarsgard’s abs for The Legend of Tarzan than on providing good reason why the movie was made”, writes Peter Howell at the Toronto Star.
